Components
What is a component?
A component is a piece of equipment that significantly influences the electrical behavior of a generating unit and/or a generating system. These include
- Voltage regulator (Automatic Voltage Regulation [AVR] of the “generation unit type 1”)
- EZA controller
- Active static compensation devices (FACTs, SVCs, Statcom)
- Auxiliary units (especially for “Type 1 generating unit”)
- Decoupling protection relay or protective devices (e.g. intermediate decoupling protection)
- NA protection relay (mains and system protection in accordance with VDE-AR-N 4105)
- Measuring relay for power flow monitoring (PAV,E monitoring in accordance with VDE-AR-N 4105)
For component manufacturers
In accordance with the VDE application guideline Network 4105/ 4110/ 4120/ 4130, the above-mentioned components must present a corresponding component certificate. The certificate provides you as the manufacturer and your end customer with proof of the quality of your product. The certificate confirms conformity with the directive, thus ensuring that the product is ready for the market and can then be used in corresponding generation systems and generation units. You can find more information about component certification here. As a preliminary stage to component certification, we also create prototype confirmations and offer type tests (e.g. for protective relays).
For operators of components
Operators of components must ensure that the respective components are regularly maintained. This includes, for example, regular protection tests of protective relays and the inspection of electrical systems and equipment in accordance with DGUV V3. We offer to carry out such inspections so that you do not lose your warranty and guarantee claims. In justified cases, the grid operator may also request the submission of the protection test protocols (e.g. for NA protection or decoupling protection) as proof of functionality.
